Practical sales systems for the person who just became responsible for sales
headofsales.me is a free field guide and a set of working tools for new sales managers and for owners who still run sales themselves. Every page ends with one next step you can take with your team.
How we write
- The answer comes first. One plain sentence, then the method and an example.
- Examples are labeled. Fictional data is marked as fictional on the page.
- Numbers show their source. A threshold or rule of thumb is called a hypothesis, not a benchmark.
- Audits are AI-powered. The free audits and quizzes use AI to score your answers and pick the matching material.
- Corrections are dated. Each page shows when it was last reviewed. Found a mistake? Write to info@headofsales.me.
What you can use for free
Both handbooks, the glossary, the worksheets and two audits are free to read and use. You may quote any page with a link to it.
The paid tools are templates, spreadsheets and guides you edit for your own team. Prices are one-time, in USD.
The monthly column is the one section written under a personal name.
What headofsales.me is
headofsales.me is a practical library for two kinds of reader. One has just been put in charge of a sales team. The other owns the business and still does the selling.
There are two handbooks. Handbook I, Your first quarter in charge, is written for new sales managers. Handbook II, Your first sales team, is for owners who sell. Next to them you will find a glossary, worksheets and two free audits.
The paid tools are the working files behind the chapters, and you adapt them to your own team. A policy comes as a Word file, your numbers go into a spreadsheet, and a meeting sheet is there to print.
How a page is built
Every page runs in the same order. First the answer, in one plain sentence. Then the method: the steps in order, and what to watch while you take them. An example comes last, when it helps.
The companies and numbers in the examples are invented, and the page labels them that way. You get the method without a made-up story dressed up as a client case.
Each page ends with one next step for you and your team. The chapter The first reply rule for every inquiry, for example, ends with a single task: find the median first-reply time of your last two weeks.
What you will not find here
There are no lessons to finish and no promise of results. A page gives you a method and one step to try. What happens after that depends on your market and on the decisions you and your team make.
You will not find industry benchmarks either. When a page names a threshold, a reply time for instance, treat it as a hypothesis and test it on your own numbers.
- No promise of revenue, conversion or speed
- No statistics without a source
- The free audits need no CRM access, call recordings or client names
Where to start
If you are new to the role, start with Handbook I and the free sales audit. You answer 20 questions and get a score in four areas, plus the one area to begin with.
If you own the business and still sell, start with Handbook II and the free lead response audit. It shows where inquiries get lost between the first reply and the next step.
If you spot a mistake or a page that is hard to follow, write to info@headofsales.me. Corrections are dated on the page.
